Advances Of Television Over The Years

Televisions have evolved rapidly over the past several years, and the technology is changing even as we speak. With so many changes it is difficult to follow everything. However, with some small pointers, you are capable of seeing the advancement of televisions, especially what has occurred in the past 10 to 15 years of the TV.

To start, televisions were a large, tube based system that features only black and white content. There were different methods of displaying programming, outside of a tube system, but these all proved noisy and eventually failed.

Color televisions was one of the biggest changes in televisions for decades, and once color televisions came out, television advancement seemed to stop. The color quality did improve, but outside of this, televisions basically stayed the same, outside of the sets becoming larger and less expensive.

One of the biggest changes in televisions came about with the introduction of a flat screen. This allowed televisions to drastically drop in size, plus it improved the overall picture quality of televisions. No longer did glares reflect off the surface of televisions, meaning anywhere in a room an individual was able to receive an excellent view of the television.

After flat screen televisions came high-definition. This improved the resolution of television sets significantly. Televisions originally had a horizontal resolution of 480 lines. HD improved this to 1080, giving it nearly three times the resolution of a standard definition television.

3D televisions are now the latest trend and update to televisions in the last several years. This allows you to see theater quality 3D content right in your own home. You do need to wear glasses, but in the coming years, there are going to be 3D television sets that are capable of producing the 3D image, without the aid of glasses.
